Sally's story
When 35-year-old Sally first came into contact with the Elmore Team, she had just been released from prison and was on Thames Valley Probation. She had a long history of re-offending. She was sleeping rough and drinking excessively, and was barred from all Oxford hostels. She had serious physical health problems and was suffering from depression. Sally told the Team that she was completely institutionalised having grown up in care and spent much of her life in prison.
Interventions
Over a period of 18 months, we worked with Sally to build a relationship based on trust and consistency. We liaised with health agencies and advocated with hostels to have her previous bans overturned.
Outcomes
Sally has not offended since receiving support and at the time of writing had been dry for 12 months. She is living in City Council housing, where she is stable and has no rent arrears.
