ASB Team
We provide intensive support to people coming under Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) legislation who have mental health issues or are otherwise vulnerable, and are living in Oxford City.
Who we work with
We support a range of ‘vulnerable’ people including street sex workers, people who have learning disabilities, chaotic lives or addictions, and people who are experiencing unstable accommodation or insecure family situations. We do not require you to have a formal mental health diagnosis.
How we work
We can work with you at any stage in the ASB process including early identification, warning, Acceptable Behaviour Contract (ABC), Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) and Criminal Anti Social Behaviour Order (CrASBO). We also work with people who are in prison for breaching their ASBOs.
What we do
- Provide advice and information about the ASB legal process.
- Support you through the ASB process, including accompanying you and advocating on your behalf in court and custody, if relevant.
- Help you recognise the patterns of your behaviour, its impact on others and the consequences of breaking enforcement measures.
- Support you to break patterns of problematic behaviour by developing self-management skills.
- Support you to tackle your wider issues, such as accommodation, benefits, addictions and health needs.
- Arrange a psychiatric assessment or GP intervention for you, if relevant.
- Provide opportunities to take part in our Client projects.
- Continue to support you for as long as there is a need.
About us
The ASB Team comprises a team leader and two support workers. We work closely with the other ECS teams and our partners. A key strength of our Team is our groundbreaking partnership model, which provides a bridge between enforcement and support. We work as an independent agency in partnership with CANAcT, Oxford City Council's Crime and Nuisance Action Team.
“The Team has helped me to restore my self-confidence and I hope for a bright future.”
