Monitoring and evaluation

Measuring outcomes when working with people with complex needs is a challenging and complicated process.

Much of our work involves damage limitation and quantitative evidence is often not available. Neither do we wish to impose a rigid monitoring process on vulnerable clients who typically resist engaging with organisations that present as inflexible or overly bureaucratic.

We have an effective monitoring and evaluation process, which is recognised in a recent report produced by New Philanthropy Capital. We monitor our services and activities internally through contact hours, support plans, outcome measurements, client feedback and an agency questionnaire. We also aim to have our new services independently evaluated. Monitoring information is provided to the Board of Trustees' quarterly review meetings, and disseminated to peer networks, partners and funders. We conduct an annual risk assessment.
