How we work
We work independently and with partners to deliver a diverse range of high quality services for people who have complex needs and their communities.
People who have complex needs often do not meet the criteria of mainstream services and are not seen as the clear responsibility of any one agency. As a specialist organisation, we only work with people with complex needs, specifically those who have slipped through the gaps in mainstream service provision. We are recognised for our expertise in developing and implementing flexible services in response to complex issues.
Client involvement
Elmore's clients are among the most marginalised people in society and their voices are rarely heard. We recruit current and ex-clients, and other people who have complex needs to support the development of our organisation, services and projects. Clients are also involved in discrete projects that showcase and utilise their skills and life experiences.
What makes Elmore different?
- Working holistically, we develop a personalised, creative response to meet each client's specific requirements.
- We provide a service that is able to work on any aspect of a person's needs, at any time. Initially people often won't want to work on their mental health or addiction issues. Change comes over time and meanwhile we provide practical help to engage people.
- We make our services as accessible as possible for people who have complex needs.
- Our flexible team approach is designed to enable us to cope with even the most chaotic and challenging clients.
- We use targeted outreach to build trust with vulnerable people who have complex needs, and are skilled and persistent in engaging with people whom other agencies find it impossible to work with.
- Our referral system is fast and efficient. There are no forms. We respond immediately and we work without a waiting list.
- We work with people regardless of where they live, which means they receive continuous support as their circumstances change.
- Because of our specialist expertise, we are able to work with very high-risk people. We do not exclude people on the basis that their behaviour is too challenging.
- We remain involved with our clients for as long as we have a constructive role to play, which may be weeks, months or, occasionally, years.
